THE COLLECTIVE TAROT PULL: MAY 2024

Optimistic | Open-Minded | Future-Oriented | Courageous

Sometimes we run out of runway, and the only way to avoid atrophy in that dwindling space is to leap into the unknown. We close our eyes, envision our feet landing with surety and speed, even if our limbs barely remember they can stretch so far. Then we’re off!

To a new beginning, a fresh start, a dream we still trust despite its haziness.

We’ve landed somewhere we can run.

We finally trust there’s something on the other side worth the risk. As it turns out, our new surroundings reveal more about our own worthiness. We’ve propelled ourselves into a new chapter we needed - and deserved.

This is the Fool card in the tarot. And what better card to lead off this inaugural newsletter.

If we haven’t been introduced elsewhere on the interwebs: Hello! I’m Danielle. And this is the space I’m creating to remind you (and myself) that both the mundane and momentous parts of your journey deserve honor, care - and are part of a storyboard, “the Fool’s journey,” reflected in the tarot.

Let’s take solace in the season we are in and appreciate the collective consciousness we can tap into with the tarot. This monthly newsletter is for your self-care and personal exploration. I hope it sparks your creativity, supports your rest, and reminds you how powerful your intuition is.

THE FOOL + YOUR CLARIFYING CARD [Check Your Sun Sign Below]

Fire Signs [Aries + Leo + Sagittarius]

Queen of Swords: To free yourself from any stagnant energy, be bold and speak your truth. Be willing to remove (or set better boundaries with) the habits, people or things in your life that no longer align with the happiness you deserve. Think of how those outdated or unhealthy connections would logically shape your future. That’ll make prioritizing your peace easier.

Earth Signs [Taurus + Virgo + Capricorn]

Ace of Pentacles: The Fool truly believes the future is bright. And what better card to inspire an earth sign than one that represents long-term stability and abundance? But remember: Aces in the tarot represent potential. You have to take the leap of faith to solidify the abundant future you seek. Seize the moment when you see the opportunity.

Water Signs [Pisces + Cancer + Scorpio]

Four of Cups: You can’t yet see the blessing you’re hoping for, but it’s right around the corner. What may be louder are the intrusive thoughts tied to past mistakes, disappointments - or just an overall sense of apathy about your current situation. You cannot change the past, but you can change your perspective. Meditate on the things that bring you joy and the future you want to claim. It’s coming.

Air Signs [Gemini + Libra + Aquarius]

Five of Pentacles: This tarot card always serves as a reminder that lack creates more lack. But how do we untwist ourselves from that mucky path is the question? Put yourself in environments that pour into you, that inspire and remind you of all that you’re grateful for. What feels rich, full, enlivening? Do that. An abundant mindset precedes your fresh start and strengthens your sense of security.

SELF-CARE TIPS

The Fool card represents Pisces energy, which is a water sign, deeply intuitive and pure of heart. You can derive power from your ability to dream, and in the Fool’s instance, take steps towards that dream with optimism and faith.

Plus, have you noticed that when it’s time to leave a comfort zone, what once felt familiar and secure, morphs into its own brand of chaos - turning us every which way but loose?! lol Let’s ride this new wave, instead of trying to outswim it.

Here are some self-care tips to embrace this tarot guidance:

  • Dream journal. Buy a journal that speaks to you. One that makes you smile and feels like a treat to write in. You can take this idea literally and keep a journal by your bed, scribbling down the dreams you can remember. Or you can journal about your dreams - the goals or wishes you hope to manifest, with all the poetic fervor you can muster or the conciseness and simplicity of a bulleted list. It’s your world!

  • Practice optimism. Make small changes to the way you speak to yourself (internally and in conversation with others). Is there a positive or, at minimum, neutral way that you can look at things? If so, be intentional about taking that route. It’s all about perspective. And a fresh start typically follows a fresh story we’ve opened our minds to.

  • Tap into your intuition: There is always a soft, still voice guiding us. If you don’t feel confident that your intuition exists (or “works”), don’t think about it in terms of some hypothetical future. Think back. When have you felt connected to your intuition in the past? When was your intuition telling you something that panned out? What was your everyday life like at the time? Also how did your intuition speak to you? Was it through dreams, music, numbers, tarot or oracle cards - or a visceral feeling in your body? Maybe it’s time to revisit what you already know. After all, your intuition is your internal knowing. What you create is the space to tune in, not your intuition itself.

JOURNAL PROMPTS

  1. What would feel like a fresh start for me? What is holding me back from taking that leap?

  2. How can I make it easier for myself to do the things that are important to me right now?

  3. What has helped me to make significant or lasting changes in the past?

  4. How can I view my current state with gratitude? How can I use kindness and self-compassion to motivate the change I want to see?

FOOL-PROOF DIRECTIONS

At this time, focus on what is working for you, rather than what isn’t. Focus on what could go right, rather than what you fear will go wrong. Invite more optimism into your world. That will help you start a new chapter - but also enjoy the journey.

WHERE TO WANDER

If you’re wanting to add an intuitive practice to your self-care routine, definitely check out the The Modern Nirvana Oracle deck. I always recommend oracle decks to those who are tarot beginners, or don’t feel ready to delve into the world of 78-card tarot spreads. Oracle decks typically feature fewer cards (this deck has 50 cards) and are usually more straight forward. I think this oracle deck, however, is great for beginners as well as (tarot and oracle) card lovers!

Bonus: I was surprised to see that actress Kat Graham was involved in the creation of this deck. I had no idea she was a fellow tarot/oracle card girlie, but I love to see it! This deck makes gorgeous use of color, contains sturdy, large cards, and the included guidebook is very thoughtful with descriptions for each card that include quotes, personalized guidance by the deck creators, and mantras.

Let me know if you check this deck out!
