THE COLLECTIVE TAROT READ: SCORPIO SEASON 2024 (OCT 22 - NOV 21)
I love Scorpio season.
It’s that hazy, intoxicating vibe when you don’t know whether you’re coming or going. Are things finally winding down or only just beginning?
Scorpio energy in the tarot is represented by the Death card. When this card comes up, it rarely ever represents a literal death (despite the anxiety it might induce in tarot newbies lol).
It does remind us: there’s only a thin line (or in this case, maybe a thin veil) between our current reality and a shift. Endings, beginnings, the act of renewal and personal growth – they aren’t about hard stops. They are fluid and cyclical, yet no less impactful because of it.
Scorpio energy teaches us to transmute. Take what you have and leverage it for the future you want. Use the realization that something has ended as a jumping-off point for your new chapter. Channel that anger into motivation. Allow those tears to release and cleanse. Let the unknown spark curiosity and intrigue, rather than fear and doubt. Dance in the dark.
You have what you need. But do you know it? It’s transformation time.
Think of the various holidays now that entreat us to embrace transformation.
What better season to observe what was - those who have passed on, or versions of ourselves that have fallen away - than when the “veil is thin” during Halloween, Samhain or Día de los Muertos?
The Death card depicts a king, who lies on the ground with his crown knocked off. All kings must die. The end of one era ushers in another.
It’s all a cycle of death and rebirth.
We need our endings for new beginnings. We need change.
DEATH + YOUR CLARIFYING CARD [Check Your Sun Sign Below]

Transformation | Endings & Beginnings | Renewal
Water Signs [Pisces + Cancer + Scorpio]
The Hermit: Think back to Virgo season (the Hermit is the Virgo card) and all of the changes you’ve been trying to make since late summer. Guidance in the Virgo season newsletter was: “the way out is in.” Go within for answers to looming questions about big life changes. Your inner wisdom will also shed light on the right time to end or begin certain cycles. Retreat to the places that help calm the noise and enhance your intuition. If you feel you need to stay put, remember the “veil is thin” at certain times and places – but also in certain environments, which we can create. Use meditation, tarot, journaling, or other practices that awaken that inner voice.
Fire Signs [Aries + Leo + Sagittarius]
Five of Swords: This card reminds us that winning at all costs may no longer feel like winning. If no one wants to compete with us again - and even we feel icky about how the game transpired, was the “victory” even worth it? The Five of Swords card is about seeing the bigger picture, avoiding the temptation to over strategize or force things. That’s how we suck all of the joy out of an experience. If you want to change things for the better, figure out how it can be a peaceful or collaborative effort. You’ll want the right people around you to celebrate your wins.
Earth Signs [Taurus + Virgo + Capricorn]
The Star: What a beautiful combination! Transformation (Death) leading to healing and wish fulfillment (The Star). For the past several months, you’ve been going through an intense period of change – so much so that you may have forgotten to exhale and give yourself props for all you’ve accomplished. The Star card reminds us that spiritual renewal and hope is endless. You just have to be in a space (mentally, physically and spiritually) to receive the abundance you’ve been calling in. You may feel especially inspired at this time to start new creative pursuits, hobbies or work projects. And you should! Give new blessings many pathways to reach you. Your authenticity and vulnerability will help bring your dreams to life.
Air Signs [Gemini + Libra + Aquarius]
The Hierophant: The changes currently happening in your life are ushering you into a season that will provide stability, higher levels of commitment – and an emphasis on tradition. If you’ve been on a course of study or on a leadership path, Scorpio season may be a great time to apply your skills, gain certification or become a mentor or teacher. Months of hard work are leading to an initiation of sorts, where you’ll be able to rise through the ranks or ascend to the next level in your chosen field, hobby or passion project. Prepare to pass the test. But also think about the future, and where you want to further a legacy or break from convention.
SCORPIO SEASON JOURNAL PROMPTS
What cycles do you feel are coming to a close or starting in your life? How does this make you feel?
How are major changes that are happening in your life aiding in your personal growth?
Scorpio energy is transformative. It entices us to dig deeper into the mysteries of life and honor liminal spaces (between life and death, endings and beginnings, one state and another). What liminal spaces are you curious about right now? Make a plan to pursue them through study or other actions.
When have you been able to transmute energy or experiences in your life (take one thing, good or bad, and turn it into something else)? How would you like to transmute now?
FOOL-PROOF DIRECTIONS
Sometimes change is needed to move forward. Endings are part of the cycle that gives us new beginnings.
Embrace the feelings brought up by change. Also give yourself the support or space that you need to thrive on the other side of it.
YOUR SELF-CARE GUIDE
Take a day, or part of your day, to honor the spiritual. That could be loved ones who have passed away, or a part of your past that carries great meaning for you.
Yes, the veil is thin during this time, but that “veil” is just a descriptor for what separates the physical from the spiritual. The spiritual includes literal “spirits” of family, friends or ancestors — or your creativity, imagination, emotions, dreams and intuition. (Water in the tarot represents these spiritual aspects, and Scorpio is a water sign.)
What would bring you happiness, if it were easier to connect to? Start there.
Your day might consist of picking up treats your late grandmother loved, or buying a hard copy of that book you read on a memorable trip.
Maybe you’ll light candles, spray scents, or cook a meal that reminds you of your fondest childhood memories. It may finally be that time to revisit a hobby - whether drawing, painting, bike riding or roller skating.
Give yourself full permission to reminisce, play and tap into your happy core.
