THE COLLECTIVE TAROT READ: TAURUS SEASON 2025 (APR 19 - MAY 20)
One word. SINNERS.
Is it any wonder this film debuted the same weekend as Taurus season?
It was many things that Taurus energy is. Substantial, keenly observant of the human experience. Devoted to stirring the senses.
The cinematography stunned. Black life in the 1930s Mississippi Delta was showcased with bright indulgence and low groaning blues. Then there was the hauntingly beautiful score and soundtrack, the characters (cast perfectly), and narrative that wove together different cultures, communities and timelines.
In the tarot, The Hierophant card represents Taurus energy.
I’ll admit, The Hierophant used to slightly perplex me. Yes, I got its abbreviated meanings that pointed to “societal standards,” religious or educational institutions — or relationships that are formally recognized in society (such as marriage). But it wasn’t until I really sat with this card that it began to strike a deeper chord.
At its heart, the Hierophant is about tradition, legacy and the societal structures that can influence our entire lives. They can make or break us. Sinners is a powerful portal that shows us this.
Tradition can heal you, be your magic, protect you or those you love — and even support your ascension (when you’re ready to cross that threshold), as evidenced by the character Annie - and by extension, Smoke.
Taurus is a fixed sign, so its attributes are two edged. We cannot be too fixed.
Tradition can hold beauty, but it can also bind us to our trauma.
We cannot invite everyone in. That goes for our lives - narrowed down further to our hearts and safe spaces.
We cannot continue every legacy.
Not if we want to know joy, freedom, love - or fully consume the pleasures of living (Taurus energy). The price is too dear and comes at the expense of us standing in our sun.
There are those traditions that don’t feel like home to us.
Maybe they represent our subjugation. Maybe they stifle our voice. Our gift. Our dreams.
Sometimes we’re called to break away. Create a new branch on that ancient tree. In Sinners, Sammie depicts this choice. You can ride on clutching your guitar - or whatever your instrument or gift may be.
There is magic in honoring some traditions and creating others.
We need those elders and mentors who can usher us into our purpose.
We need higher levels of commitment even if we must look our pain or trauma in the face, (hello Smoke). We need those heirlooms, stories and fragments of our past, because they make us who we are — even as we keep adding on.
This carries us through the long night and anything we fear that’s out there.
THE HIEROPHANT + YOUR CLARIFYING CARD [Check Your Sun Sign Below]

Tradition | Mentorship | Societal Structures
Earth Signs [Taurus + Virgo + Capricorn]
The Emperor: Power, passion, mentorship and mastery. That’s what these two major arcana cards, The Emperor and Hierophant, which heavily feature the color red and leadership figures, are giving. You’re ready to take control of your story - and maybe even share it to inspire or guide others.
Air Signs [Gemini + Libra + Aquarius]
Eight of Wands: Things are changing fast and it feels good, because you’ve been dedicated to a path of bettering yourself for quite some time. Now you’re beginning to see the wheels turn. Communication and clarity arrives. Grab hold of this energy and soar.
Water Signs [Cancer + Scorpio + Pisces]
Eight of Pentacles: Don’t let societal pressures or people-pleasing tendencies divert your attention from what you’re building for yourself. This is the part of the building that requires your attention to detail, love and intention. If you create a space to focus, this process can go from tedious to transcendent.
Fire Signs [Aries + Leo + Sagittarius]
King of Cups: To elevate to the next level you desire, you’ll need emotional calm and stability. Think: inner quiet. This isn’t about the whirlwind of energy and chaos swirling outside. This is about the safety and security you’ve created for yourself from within. Protect your peace come hell or high water.

What are the simple pleasures of life you’d like to spend more time enjoying? List three things you can easily incorporate into your day-to-day life or weekly schedule.
FOOL-PROOF DIRECTIONS
Determine what’s worth your energy and honor. Ritualize with intention, whether it’s the big things that represent your core values, or the daily practices that make life beautiful in your eyes.
YOUR SELF-CARE GUIDE
Figure out what senses you feel most connected to at this time, and stir them with purposeful self-care. If you’ve wanted to plant your feet in soft grass or soil, or let fresh water rush against your legs, get outside and enjoy that! Smell fresh flowers or bring them into your home. Add sweet almond or lavender oil to a hot bath to awaken the senses.
Immerse yourself in your favorite art, live music or film. Taurus is ruled by the planet Venus, which represents beauty, romance, luxury and charm. Submerge your senses with these attributes in mind.
WHERE TO WANDER
I’m sending you right on over to the song, “Séance,” a gem on the Sinners movie soundtrack (not to mention the entire score by Ludwig Göransson). Trust me and let this one play while you’re in creativity mode — whether creating, journaling or brainstorming.
